Residency & Immigration
A focused package for investors using Panama’s Qualified Investor Visa securities route, organizing document readiness, bank and brokerage onboarding, funds transfer, MICI and immigration workflow.
The Qualified Investor Visa — Securities Investment Packages is designed for clients who want a structured but focused coordination path for the securities investment option.
This package is appropriate for clients who need support organizing the core steps: preliminary due diligence, document collection, timeline planning, professional partner communication, personal bank account coordination, brokerage account coordination, funds transfer follow-up, MICI certification workflow and immigration process coordination. Investors still comparing structures before funding can also review the bank deposit route and the real estate route before selecting the final investment path.
It does not include enhanced arrival support, local rental coordination, cédula coordination, tax ID coordination or Special Travel Passport support unless separately quoted.

1. Category comparison and action plan
The process begins by comparing the securities investment option with other available Qualified Investor routes. The purpose is not to provide investment advice, but to help the client understand the operational differences: banking, brokerage, compliance, documentation, timing, liquidity, certification and post-approval obligations.
2. Preliminary due diligence
CitizenResident helps organize the client’s preliminary documentation for bank, brokerage and professional review. This may include identification documents, proof of address, tax information, source of funds, source of wealth, business or employment background and supporting financial documents.
3. Roadmap and timeline
CitizenResident prepares a practical action plan that shows what must be completed before accounts are opened, what can move in parallel and what must wait for legal, banking, brokerage or authority confirmation.
4. Investment option coordination
The client may coordinate with financial advisors or investment providers to evaluate possible eligible investment funds or securities. Any selected investment should be reviewed by the immigration lawyer for immigration compatibility and should be capable of supporting MICI certification.
CitizenResident does not provide securities recommendations or investment suitability analysis.
5. Document legalization and translation workflow
Documents may need to be used before the bank, brokerage house, MICI and Immigration Office. Foreign documents may require apostille or consular legalization, and non-Spanish documents may require authorized translation.
6. Personal bank account coordination
CitizenResident may help coordinate personal bank account documentation and communication with banking contacts. Approval depends exclusively on the bank’s compliance review.
7. Brokerage account coordination
CitizenResident may help coordinate the documentation workflow for opening a brokerage or investment account with the selected licensed provider. The securities investment route requires documentation from a licensed brokerage house and SMV-related certification.
8. Funds transfer follow-up
Once accounts are approved, the client may need to transfer funds. Sending banks, receiving banks and intermediary banks may request additional information. CitizenResident may help coordinate communication and pending documentation.
9. Certifications and authority workflow
The Basic Package may include coordination around certifications issued by the brokerage house and documents required for MICI certification. MICI requirements refer to brokerage-house certification showing the investor’s name, investment amount, securities details and custodian entity, as well as SMV certification related to the registration of the securities.
10. MICI and immigration coordination
Once the investment evidence is organized, the workflow may proceed through MICI and the National Immigration Service with the responsible professional. MICI certifies to the National Immigration Service that the investment meets the required parameters.
Phase 1 — Initial strategy and project roadmap
Confirm the securities route, applicant profile, family scope, provider sequence and the documentation needed before onboarding starts.
Estimated time: 2–5 business days
Phase 2 — Documents, legalization and source-of-funds organization
Prepare identity, address, tax, professional, corporate and source-of-funds records required for the bank, brokerage house and legal review. Foreign records may require apostille, legalization or authorized translation.
Estimated time: 1–4 weeks, depending on document availability and country of issue
Phase 3 — Bank and brokerage onboarding
Coordinate KYC submissions and provider communication. Account approval remains subject to each institution’s compliance review.
Estimated time: 2–6+ weeks after a complete onboarding file is submitted
Phase 4 — Investment execution and funds-transfer workflow
Once the required accounts are ready, the investment and transfer sequence is aligned with the licensed financial provider and immigration requirements.
Estimated time: 1–3 weeks after accounts and investment instructions are ready
Phase 5 — Brokerage, SMV and MICI certification preparation
Organize the investment evidence and third-party certifications required for the Qualified Investor filing workflow.
Estimated time: approximately 1–3 weeks after the qualifying investment is in place
Phase 6 — Immigration filing and authority review
Licensed immigration counsel handles the regulated filing and legal representation. Authority requests or additional documentation may extend this stage.
Estimated time: approximately 30–45 days after a complete qualifying filing is submitted
Phase 7 — Permanent-resident card coordination
After approval, coordinate the required in-person resident-card steps and related appointments in Panama.
Estimated time: approximately 2–5 business days in Panama, subject to appointment availability
